On the Road Again
We were out of our rooms and on the road again by 9:30 AM on the day after our Mackinac Island adventure, but we weren’t destined to spend much time in the car, yet. Instead, we were headed to the Inn at Bay Harbor, also in Petosky.
The Inn at Bay Harbor, like the Courtyard we’d stayed in, is a Marriott property, but it is part of the Autograph Collection. Time for Breakfast and Relaxation
Along with all the rest of the stuff, they also once had an amazing brunch buffet, according to my family, but due to Covid, it had been severely downsized. Not that it was bad, it just wasn’t what they’d expected. What they had was fine and you could order omelets and such, but it was a disappointment.
Once breakfast was over, we stepped outside and the disappointment was behind up. A gorgeous view, lawn games and more waited outside. The photo above is me sitting at the firepit (not lit) enjoying the incredible view.
The family spread out, each one enjoying another facet of the lawn, but I loved just sitting and relaxing with the beauty around me. Here are some shots of what others found to do.
Now this sort of stuff is just up Bill’s alley and apparently his family also enjoys it, but after I’d had a little time to take in the view I was ready to move on to the next thing. Well, we didn’t move and then we didn’t move some more and then when we did move, it was to stroll through a small mixed use area to a marina. Then we strolled down one of the piers in the marina checking out all the huge boats and then we relaxed a little more.
I was done, but they weren’t, so I cooled my jets. Eventually, it was time to eat again. For this, we made our way to a small café called knot.
It is beyond me how anyone could have been hungry yet, but still we managed to order up and eat some sandwiches. Not my favorite culinary experience of the trip, but not bad either.
Then it was time to hit the road. Our business’ new photographer had an appointment that afternoon, so I knew when I arrived back at my family’s house I’d be downloading, uploading and sending off photos for one of our clients. It would be the first time we’d tried to keep the business going while we traveled. Would it work? Find out next week.
