TRAVEL HERE: GO YE THEREFORE AND CELEBRATE!
Seriously! It’s Christmas Day! What are you doing here?
Since you dropped by, I’ll take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, but please, take the rest of the day off.

Ha Very Funny! It is Boxing Day now so just catching up. Happy Christmas.
Before I posted I this comment I was suddenly alerted to the fact that there is no Boxing Day in the USA so here is an explanation –
A ‘Christmas Box’ in UK is a name for a Christmas present. Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants and the day when they received a ‘Christmas Box’ from the master. The servants would also go home on the day after Christmas to give ‘Christmas Boxes’ to their families.

I actually knew about Boxing Day! I was much more interested in history than most high school students, so I absorbed more than my fair share. I also read an enormous amount of romance novels set in historical England and there was always some dust up with the help on Boxing Day. Seems as if I also learned that it was a charitable day. The merchants would box up all the shopworn goods they wanted to get off their shelves and the poor in the community would come carry it away. So much more civilized than the American way. We put a sale sign on it, open the doors early and let people fight for it.
